When you book a yacht charter, your bespoke itinerary is designed around the sites and experiences you most want to see. The crew will be happy to help with route suggestions if needed. Can I bring my own food and drinks on the yacht rental in South of France?
You are expected to tip the crew based on their level of service, at the end of your charter a yacht. The standard rate is 15% of the charter total before tax, or more if you are particularly pleased with their service. You can either leave the tip in a small basket at the end of the gangway, or give it to the captain who will distribute it amongst the crew members on board.
The crew will enjoy your company and want to please you, but they will be more than happy to have some privacy and space to themselves. They may be working to prepare for your arrival, have personal matters to attend to, or simply prefer a slight distance between them and their guests. It’s perfectly fine to invite the captain ashore for lunch or dinner, but you should not expect him to disembark with you and your group.
Most yachts require that you wear soft shoes on deck. Stiletto heels and shoes with black soles are a no-go on teak decks, and most yachts have a basket at the end of the gangway or outside the salon door where you can leave your shoes. If you do wear shoes on deck, it’s a good idea to bring boat shoes or flip flops. They are lighter and won’t scratch the furniture.
